Reiki is spiritually guided and when you need it or are looking for something, quite often it will be placed in front of you. You may be browsing the web and a Reiki site comes up, or you might go out for a coffee and find me or another Reiki Teacher in front of you. As the teacher or as I like to call myself, “The local representative of the Universe in the Area”, and am here to help you.
It might be that we just have to say a few words or we are there to pass the Reiki on to you. Whatever is required it is our role as teachers of Reiki to give you what you need without any attachment to the outcome. I have had people relocate from the Gold Coast to a new home around the corner from my Reiki centre and bumped into them. Having experienced this so many times, I do what I have to do and give it freely.
There is nothing more important in my life than helping another person with Reiki.
But there is so much more to this than just being in the right place at the right time and offering words of wisdom or teaching someone Reiki who wants to learn.
Reiki works at many deep levels of our being, it can start preparing us for the Reiki attunement well before the due date of the Reiki class. In one case I had an older gentleman who lived across the road enquire on behalf of his wife about learning Reiki. She was ill with cystic fibrosis and wanted to learn Reiki so that she could heal herself. I said to the man, that’s great but you should learn too, “I don’t believe in that stuff” he responded. So I booked her in with another lady as Reiki is always best taught with two new people.
The day came when she was due to learn and her husband came over before the class and explained that the night before his wife had taken a bad turn and was in the hospital and could not attend. I told him what I thought, “the Reiki had started working already and her body was being prepared and this could be the Reiki at work. I will book her in for another date, but you should learn it too, so you can treat her with the Reiki!” To this, he gave his standard response, he didn’t believe in Reiki or anything like that.
To me, his belief is not needed, my faith is so strong and I have taught so many people that I know once someone has been attuned to Reiki, they have the gift of healing in their hands every single time without fail.
The day came when his wife was booked in to learn Reiki and along he came too. I attuned them both and set them up in my healing room ready for him to give her his first Reiki treatment. I explained to him that the background music had chimes every three minutes to let the person know when it was time to move to the next position. But I said, move when you feel it is time to move. “Hogwash,” he said, he had no belief in intuition or anything like that. So I stood in the room and watched him apply the Reiki to his wife and just before every chime, he moved to the next position. Totally unaware he was doing it.
Six months later during one of my Reiki share days, this old man came up to me with a very excited look on his face and said “OK I believe you now”. He explained that he had been giving Reiki to another person and felt a hand placed upon his shoulder. He could feel the fingers and the weight of the hand but when he turned to see who was behind him, no one was there. I myself have slept with an invisible hand on my shoulder as have others, it’s a way spirit shows you when the time is right that they are real and they are here with you.
This is why Reiki is not just about healing, it’s about spiritual growth.
